报告摘要
Recent advances in the nanotechnology offer toolsets to fabricate and engineer nanoscale structures that can be used as functional building blocks to construct macroscopic assemblies and composites, which hold great promises in structural and functional applications. To achieve macroscopic forms that well preserve the exceptional performance of nanostructures through the scaling-up process, efficiency strategies have to be identified for defect minimization and interfacial load transfer improvement. On the other hand, the nanoconfined space between nanostructures endows the assemblies with functional nanochannels for efficient and selective mass transport processes. In this talk, I will introduce our recent work on (1) quantitative correlation between microstructural features and mechanical properties of fibers and films constructed from carbon nanotubes and graphene, (2) phase diagrams and transport mechanisms of fluids confined in nanoscale galleries.
