报告摘要

Two-dimensional (2D) materials are referred to sheet-like materials containing only a single layer or several layers of atoms in the through-thickness direction. Since the first successful isolation of monolayer graphene, a large number of 2D materials have been produced, such as graphene, silicene, BN, MoS2, etc. Among these, graphene has attracted much attention due to its unique electronic, mechanical, thermal, and optical material properties. In this work, we adopted molecular dynamics modeling method to investigate the mechanical and thermal properties of graphene, with respect to the various size, strain, temperature, defects and doping conditions.

Huijuan (Jane) Zhao received her B.S. and M.S. in Engineering Mechanics from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China in 2000 and 2002. She received her PhD degree in Mechanical Science &Engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2010. She became a postdoctoral research associate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. She joined the Mechanical Engineering Department in Clemson University in 2012.  Her research area has been focusing on the material and structure characterizations through computational multi-scale, multi-physics modeling. She is currently funded by the DOE/NEUP, DOE/EERE and ONR
